About 50 miles east of Long Island, New York, is the village of Port Jefferson. Over the years, it has become one of the top destinations for boaters in the northeast. At Port Jefferson, you can find calm waters, unique shops, specialty restaurants, and a calendar full of cultural activities. However, the Celtic Quest Fishing Fleet is one of the main attractions that brings visitors to this charming destination. Celtic Quest Fishing has been family-owned and operated since 2002. The ship’s founder and captain, Desmond O’Sullivan, was born and raised in Port Jefferson and has been an avid fisherman. Since the beginning of Celtic Quest, Desmond has fished with tens of thousands of fishermen.
Desmond and his friendly crew will help provide your entire family with an experience they won’t forget. Daily open boat trips leave Port Jefferson for fishing during every season. The boats will travel anywhere from 1 to 5 miles offshore, trying to find the best location for fishing on the day of your planned adventure. Along the way, you can view sea birds, ospreys, hawks, gulls, and more beautiful wildlife.
Besides the opportunity to see incredible wildlife, a fishing license, rods, bait, and tackle are all included with your ticket. This allows each participant to catch some fish in season and take home a limited amount. If you need assistance cleaning the fish, they’ll even offer you one of their skilled mates to fillet your fish to take home. Unfortunately, Celtic Quest cannot guarantee that you will successfully catch a fish. But, in their years of experience, only a few have returned to Port Jefferson empty-handed. Furthermore, if you’re not interested in keeping the fish, you can catch and release them back into the wild.
Celtic Quest has been voted one of Long Islands’ top family fishing experiences. Past participants of the boating adventure have left glowing reviews on Facebook, including these:“Celtic Quest is a family boat; you come out to relax, and there is always someone around to cater to all your needs [experienced or new fishermen/women]. They even provide all the fishing poles and unlimited bait. It has become a family tradition to spend occasions [birthdays, anniversaries, holidays] on the boat. It is spotless, and the crew ensures everything is done at the night’s end or ready before every trip.”
“The Celtic Quest family is that fishing family you want to go out with. Have you ever been fishing for Fluke/Porgies and seen Bluefish crashing in the distance? The crew will switch up rigs and hit the bite until it’s done. Who does that? No one but the Celtic Quest!! Facts !!”
The Celtic Quest fleet of boats at Port Jefferson can provide a fantastic experience for your entire family. They are also available for private charters with parties of up to 100 people. They welcome everyone from the seasoned fisherman to the child excited about casting their first line. You can book your trip directly online or by calling the office.
