The season on Long Island Sound runs from April through November out of Port Jefferson, with full-day trips continuing at our Mattituck location right through Thanksgiving. That gives you a wide window to work with — but some times of year are particularly wonderful for corporate groups.
Late May through the third week of June is the window we recommend most. Porgy and fluke fishing are typically excellent during this stretch, the weather is usually beautiful, and the whole Sound feels alive. June is genuinely our busiest month — people are eager, summer is breaking, and most teams are still fully available before vacation season pulls everyone in different directions. If you can land a date in this window, you'll likely have a great day on the water.
July is warm and festive and perfect for groups where the experience and the social energy matter most. Fishing can moderate a little as the season transitions, but the atmosphere is wonderful and we run plenty of great corporate events throughout the summer.
September is a lovely window that often gets overlooked. The water is still comfortable, the fishing typically picks up again as it cools, and it can be a wonderful time to reward a team after a long summer. Private charters are also available at our Mattituck location beginning in mid-September, which adds a full-day option for groups who want something a little different.
October offers some of the best fishing of the year — but it comes with a weather caveat. Long Island Sound can get rough in October, and we do see more weather-related cancellations than earlier in the season. If your group is flexible, it can be a spectacular month.
