Meet Captain Desmond O’Sullivan,
Founder of Celtic Quest Fishing Fleet
Captain Des holds a 100 ton Near Coastal Captains License, and is a native of Port Jefferson who has been fishing the local North Shore waters his entire life. He has been featured in the Fisherman magazine, Newsday and as a guest on both the Fishing Line and the Noreast Radio shows. Desmond has also appeared as a speaker at several local fishing seminars including George Poveromo’s Saltwater Sportsman’s Seminar and annually at Jerry McGrath’s well known Sport fishing on Long Island seminars.
Desmond grew up as deckhand and a Captain for local party boats. After graduating Fordham University with a degree in Liberal Arts and Music he decided that he wanted to continue being a fisherman and moved to Montauk where he worked as a Captain for the Viking Fleet for three years,
In 2002, Desmond returned to his home in Port Jefferson and began his own business, Celtic Quest Inc. which he owns and operates today. Our humble beginnings began in Mt Sinai Harbor, where we kept our first boat on a mooring and picked everyone up at the boat ramp. The Celtic Quest was a 45 foot, 30 passenger boat which was no frills to say the least. It was a boat though that has seen some epic fishing trips for sure! Luckily, with the tremendous fishing in our area and the great fortune of receiving a berth in Port Jefferson Harbor. Thankfully, business grew over the years and we have fished with tens of thousands of fisherman and are on our 5th boat, including the latest additon, the Celtic Grace an 80 foot beautiful fishing yatch!

Captain Chris Kadlec
Capt Chris has been working with us for 15 years now and has been an integral part of the business since the beginning. Chris and Des worked together on the local party boats growing up and he is one of the top fishermen in our area by far. We are very fortunate to have Chris as part of our team, as his dedication to excellence and hard work on every trip he runs is always evident to our customers.
Chris is a proud husband and father and certainly the backbone of this company.
Captain Mark DeJong
Capt mark has been working with us since 2009 and we are incredibly fortunate to have his help!! Mark has worked on the water for over 30 years and has run some of the top party boats on the north shore! His experience and knowledge of the area is second to none and he has been one of the top producing captains in the region for many years running. Mark is always a crowd favorite and his upbeat, friendly personality along with his extensive knowledge of fishing makes him a great assest to our company to say the least.
Mark is a proud husband and father to his beautiful daughter, Kelly.
We are truly fortunate to have him on our crew!
Captain Jared Perillo
Captain Jared is one of the most talented Captains in our entire area! He has worked for us since 2007, while at the same time building his own company on the side, Island Shores Marine, a full service
Not only does Jared catch a ton of fish for us, he keeps our boats and engines running in top condition!
He has been the pioneer of much of the night fishing tactics we have incorporated into our business and has developed several key strategies that have really helped us catch more fish than ever before!
Jared is also a proud husband and father to his beautiful daughter, Kaylee.
Bernadette DeBrodt
Office Guru Extraordinaire
We are incredibly fortunate to have Bernadette running & directing our office & company since 2008!!! She brought many talents with her and has been managing things ever since. She immediately became part of our fishing family with her warmth, understanding, and attention to detail.
All of our customers will attest, she does an amazing job! Our regulars love her and constantly tell us what a pleasure she is to work with.
