Four hours on Long Island Sound is genuinely a wonderful amount of time. You'll get well offshore, into real fishing grounds, and back to the dock with plenty of day left ahead of you. For families, first-timers, and groups just looking for a fun morning together, the half day is often the perfect fit.
Families with kids love it. We welcome children ages 5 and up, and four hours is just about right for young anglers. They stay excited, they stay focused, and you're back at the dock before anyone's asking to go home. It's a genuine win for everyone.
It pairs beautifully with a full Port Jefferson day. Our dock is right in the heart of the village at 118 West Broadway. When the boat comes in, the whole group can walk straight into Port Jefferson — waterfront restaurants, great shops, and a harbor full of character are all a short stroll away. The Steam Room has been feeding hungry anglers right near the dock since 1977. And if you've never seen the Port Jefferson Ferry headed across the Sound toward Bridgeport, that's a pretty special sight to catch over lunch. For day-trippers coming out from the city, a morning on the water followed by an afternoon in the village makes for a fantastic full day.

When a Full Day Trip Is the Right Call
Seven hours on the water. More ground covered, deeper structures, different species, and real time to settle into the rhythm of a full day of fishing. If you want the committed experience — or if your group truly loves to fish — this is your trip.
The fall season at Mattituck is something special. Our Mattituck location opens in mid-September, about 30 miles east of Port Jefferson, and runs wreck and bottom fishing full-day trips all the way through Thanksgiving. Most boats are done for the year by then. We're not. The fishing in October and November can be exceptional — sea bass, porgies, and when blackfish season opens in mid-October, some of the best tautog fishing on the North Shore. These are full-day trips exclusively, and for good reason. The productive grounds take time to reach, and you'll want every minute out there.
One honest word about October: the fishing is fantastic, but the weather can be unpredictable. We do see cancellations when it turns rough. If you want fall full-day fishing with fewer weather concerns, late September is often the sweet spot — the fish are biting and conditions are usually still kind.
Jamesport in May is full-day only. Our spring season at Jamesport, out on Peconic Bay, runs for a short window in May. It's a beautiful spot and the porgy fishing can be excellent as the season gets going. Weakfish show up here too, which makes for a fun, varied day. If Jamesport is calling you, the full day is the only way to experience it.
Dedicated anglers, this is your trip. If you want to cover ground, fish multiple spots, and really give yourself a chance to fill the cooler — the full day gives you all of that room. What's included in the ticket price?
Everything you need to fish. Rods, bait, tackle, and your New York State fishing license are all included in the fare on both half day and full day trips. At the end of the trip, our mates will clean and bag your catch so you go home ready to cook. Just bring yourself, some snacks, and something to drink.
Can I bring food and drinks on the boat?
Absolutely — and we encourage it. Bring a small cooler with your food and drinks. Beer and wine are welcome on board. We do ask that guests leave hard liquor at home; that's a firm policy on both vessels. A good lunch makes a full day trip especially comfortable.
Are the trips suitable for young children?
We recommend ages 5 and up, and kids tend to have a fantastic time. There's plenty of action to keep them engaged, and our crew is experienced and patient with young anglers.
