Make a Day in Port Jefferson, NY Your Best Day!

Every day is a beautiful day when you venture out with family and friends into the historic Long Island town of Port Jefferson, New York. Port Jeff, as it is more often called by the locals, is a gorgeous town located along the North Shore of Long Island, known for its parks, galleries, independent shops and of course its restaurants, as well as family friendly adventures along the harbor such as a fishing trip with Celtic Quest Fishing.

Ahoy Mateys!

Whether you’re a group of first-time fishermen or a gaggle of seasoned anglers, Captain Desmond O’Sullivan and his experienced crew at Celtic Quest treat their guests like family as they guide them in one of their five boats, including their newest, the Celtic Grace, a spectacular 80-foot fishing yacht!

If you have your own fishing equipment, bring it with you! Don’t have your own fishing equipment? Do not worry! Captain Des and the crew will get you all set up onboard with rods, custom tackle, and bait which are all included with the fare. You may book a trip or even charter a boat for a private party and create lifelong memories. The crew will even send you home with your catch cleaned and fileted, ready for dinner!

If you’re not planning on catching and cooking for yourselves at home after your Celtic Quest adventure, then continue your day in Port Jeff and take in its local culture — whether it’s grabbing a cup of coffee while strolling the waterfront, taking the kiddos to a museum or park or sitting for a meal at one of their renowned restaurants.

Dining in Port Jefferson

The foodies at the Wanderlog team have done the legwork and recommended some of the most popular family-friendly restaurants in town!

After a day taking in the famous Port Jefferson Village, check out the lounge at the Danfords’ Wave Seafood & Steak for weekday happy hour specials while watching the sunset over the harbor, or lunch or dinner. Or pop over to the outdoor area at The Steam Room for fresh steamed lobster, sweet fried clams, a classic fish sandwich or their homemade clam chowder or seafood bisque served in a bread bowl!

For a casual meal, Toast Coffeehouse in Port Jefferson Station not only serves breakfast and lunch fare, including steakhouse burgers, they also have a vegan menu and a kid’s menu.

Family Fun

If making your maiden voyage to Port Jefferson with the kiddos, visiting a museum such as the Maritime Explorium should be high or your “to do” list. “Best place ever!” according to one visitor who posted on Tripadvisor, highlighting the welcoming staff and hands-on activities for kids of all ages and adults as well. Hot Wheels tracks, Tubular mazes, seasonal exhibits, and a Maker Space – oh yeah!

If your little ones need to let loose, head over to Clifton H. Lee Memorial Park, aka, Rocketship Park, where they can enjoy swings, climbing equipment, a basketball court, and lighted tennis courts. There’s a shaded picnic area for parents to eat and still keep any eye on the youngsters, and even children’s summer shows. With 4.7/5.0 – stars on Google we’re talkin’ a sure thing!

So gas up the SUV or minivan, set sail with Celtic Quest Fishing,  take in the sights along the harbor, and make your day in beautiful Port Jefferson your best day!

Celtic Quest Fishing Offers the Perfect Team Building Activity

Corporate team building is an important part of any Human Resources strategy to strengthen leadership, organization and to encourage employees to work together for ultimate success.

However, thanks to remote working situations these days, more companies are looking for ways to get together and build team spirit!

May we suggest a corporate fishing charter aboard a Celtic Quest Fishing boat?

We will help you take team building to a new level–and views of the open waters of Long Island Sound off of beautiful Port Jefferson, NY, will help get everyone prepared for a great time. In fact, including fishing into your next team building activity makes it all fun (and little work!)

Some housekeeping notes: Celtic Quest welcomes responsible drinking and you are welcome to bring food aboard. We are happy to help with catering options, as well. Just call (631) 928-3926 to learn more about corporate fishing charters.

Additionally, at Celtic Quest, our first priority is safety. The floors of the boat get wet and slippery. Leave fancy shoes at home. Bring sunscreen and dress for fishing–not dancing! (Although, if the music moves you…dance!)

We sail rain or shine but if the weather is really bad, we will cancel to ensure everyone’s safety. If you’ve booked a corporate fishing charter and we have to cancel the trip because of weather (very high winds, for example), no worries! We will refund your money or reschedule the trip–your choice! Most cancellations only occur due to high winds or severe weather.

The Ties that Bind

At Celtic Quest, we take all the hassle out of planning a fishing trip by supplying rods, reels, bait and experienced mates who will teach newbies, remind experienced anglers and help make the entire corporate charter trip one for the memory books!

Team building is all about encouraging and strengthening the bonds between coworkers. It’s about morale building but also figuring out how to improve the team’s ability to get the job done–regardless of what your level of expertise might be.

Additionally, fishing is a great activity for team building because there is no distinction between management and employees during a Celtic Quest fishing trip. The fish don’t know your title or how long you’ve worked for a company!

Culture

Culture is a big word these days in Human Resources circles. Experienced recruiters and talent managers know that every company has a culture and it lives and dies by the team’s commitment to it. Out on a Celtic Quest fishing charter, the culture is FUN! There will be plenty of laughing, maybe some fishing splashing and many ways to encourage team building and improved morale.

Fishing is also a great way to welcome new employees into the fold. Everyone will get to know each other outside of the office where there is plenty of time to engage as friends.

Communication

One of the main points of team building is to improve communication. If you are working in teams to catch fish (watching each other’s lines, for example) it’s all eyes on the task at hand!

Remember, there’s nowhere to run and hide on a Celtic Quest Fishing boat. As we wave goodbye to the Port Jefferson Marina and set out for adventure on the beautiful Long Island Sound, you’ll be in close proximity to your coworkers. Get settled and get to know each other better through common goals out of the office.

This is a great way to build rapport with team members and also relax and have fun!

You are working toward a common goal: to catch fish! Share your skills and your fish tales! Celtic Quest teammates will be happy to share plenty of stories, offer fishing advice and point out items of interest during your charter trip.
