You don’t need a special “kids’ boat” — our everyday half-day trips are the kids’ trip. Ages 5 and up, rods, bait, tackle and your fishing license all included, and a crew that helps every young angler reel one in.
Why our regular trips work so well for kids
- Recommended ages: 5 and up
Kids 12 and under sail at the child rate. Strollers can’t come aboard for safety, but little anglers are welcome.
- Kid-sized trip lengths
Weekend & evening trips run 4 hours; weekday trips run 9:00 AM–2:00 PM. Long enough to catch fish, short enough for young attention spans.
- Everything is included
Rods, reels, bait and tackle are provided at no extra charge — and the fishing license is included in your ticket.
- The crew does the fiddly parts
Our mates bait hooks, untangle lines and help kids land their fish. Most guests aboard are first-timers — no experience needed.
- Clean restrooms on board
Separate men’s and women’s bathrooms, kept clean and maintained throughout the trip.
- Heated inside cabin
Shade on hot days, warmth on cool ones — a place for anyone who needs a break from the rail.
- Life jackets in every size
Life jackets for all ages are on board, and our safety equipment is inspected and certified annually.
- Calm home waters
Most trips on Long Island Sound are calm. We typically fish 1–5 miles out, just 20–60 minutes from the dock.
- What kids actually catch
Porgies, sea bass, fluke, bluefish and more, depending on the season — porgies bite often, which is perfect for kids.
- Take dinner home
The mates will fillet and bag your family’s catch. Bring a small cooler and take fresh fish home for dinner.
- Non-fishing family welcome
Grandparents or parents who’d rather watch can still come along — call (631) 928-3926 to ask about a non-fishing discount.
- Weather promise
If we cancel for bad weather, you get a full refund or credit for another trip.

Parents’ quick tips
First trip with young kids? The 4-hour weekend or evening half-day is the easiest starting point. The Sound is usually calm, but if anyone is prone to motion sickness, take Dramamine before boarding — it isn’t sold on board. Pack snacks, drinks, sunscreen and a small cooler (it doubles as the ride home for your fillets). More answers in our Frequently Asked Questions.
