ലോംഗ് ഐലൻഡിലെ ഒരു മത്സ്യബന്ധന യാത്രയിൽ എന്ത് ധരിക്കണം (സീസൺ-ബൈ-സീസൺ ഗൈഡ്)

You don’t need special gear to fish with us — rods, bait, and tackle are all provided. But what you wear can make the difference between a comfortable day on Long Island Sound and a long one. Here’s what actually works, season by season.

The Golden Rule: It’s Cooler on the Water

Whatever the temperature is in your driveway, plan for it to feel 10 degrees cooler out on the Sound, with a steady breeze once the boat is moving. The fix is simple: dress in layers you can peel off. You can always take a sweatshirt off; you can’t put on one you left in the car.

Footwear: Think Grip, Not Style

Sneakers or any rubber-soled, closed-toe shoes are perfect. Decks get wet — that’s part of fishing — so leave the flip-flops and slick-bottomed shoes at home. No need for boots on a summer trip, though some anglers like them in spring and fall.

Spring (April–May)

  • Warm base layer plus a fleece or hoodie
  • Windbreaker or light waterproof jacket — spring breezes off the water are no joke
  • Hat and sunglasses; the spring sun off the water is stronger than it feels

വേനൽക്കാലം (ജൂൺ-ഓഗസ്റ്റ്)

  • Light, breathable clothing — and still bring one light layer for the ride out
  • Hat with a brim, polarized sunglasses, and sunscreen (reapply — the reflection off the water doubles your exposure)
  • For evening trips, toss in a long-sleeve shirt; it cools off fast after sunset

ശരത്കാലം (സെപ്റ്റംബർ–നവംബർ)

  • This is layering season: t-shirt, sweatshirt, and a windproof outer layer
  • A warm hat beats a baseball cap by late October
  • Gloves are smart for November blackfish trips

Good News: There’s a Heated Cabin

If you misjudge the weather, you’re not stuck. Our boats have a heated indoor cabin and clean restrooms, so anyone in your group can warm up whenever they like — one of the reasons our trips work so well for കുട്ടികളുള്ള കുടുംബങ്ങൾ.

What Else Should You Bring?

Food, drinks, sunscreen, and a small cooler for your fillets — the full list is in our guide to what to bring (and not bring). Then check what’s biting on the മത്സ്യബന്ധന കലണ്ടർ and grab your spot on the ബുക്കിംഗ് പേജ്.
