Yesterday was our first blackfish trip! Nice showing of tog on the day with 100 blackfish, keeping around 50 with some nice quality as well 7-8 lb for the pool.

Weather prevented us from getting to the blackfish grounds today but we did put together a nice catch of porgies none the less. Also had a great catch of porgies on our half day trip today!

Despite the cloudy, chilly and sometimes rainy conditions, we had a real nice day today with lots of big porgies, blues and some sea bass. 7 year old Ava caught the biggest one of the day with a nice big sea bass. !!

Sailing as an open boat two trips tomorrow. 7-3pm fullday and 9-1 half day. Plenty of room and the weather looks fantastic! Hope to see you. Blackfish starts Wednesday!!!!

We have been fighting the wind a bit the past two days stuck inshore. Yesterday was a little slow on the pogies though everyone went home with 10-20 scup a man. Today the conditions were poor again in the morning but by days end we were able to put together an excellent mixed bag catch. The jigging was red hot and it didnt take long to catch all blues you could want!!. The bottom fishing was much improved once the wind settled and we were able to drift. So all in all a very solid day despite the weather.

Today we had Smithtown high school on board for a day of learning and some fishing as well. In the short time we did fish, the kids wacked the scup, blues, fluke and even a blackfish was captured(released). Great trip!!

From Capt Neil posted yesterday on Noreast.com:

“Flying porgys last evening. Young children, Cub Scouts and a family party, were screaming with delight all evening. Capt Jared had us on the drift outside of the harbor and it was screaming catching. What a blast.

Porgy time at Port Jeff. Time to get on your favorite party boat and treat yourself to a ball. “
