Todays trip found suicide scup waiting to leaping on the hooks. Each drop found jumbo double header porgies that held steady for the ride. A full boat limit was had with John high hook at 57 fish and another Customer in the running with 37 both rol. Get in on the bite!

Both trips today had solid porgy fishing! We got on them halfway through the Seven AM trip, caught a load of big ones, and the evening trip had good fishing, also. Both trips had lots of double headers, and many anglers caught something- teen fish!

Both PM trips last night started out with a light bite and we looked for better drops. Capt. Chris checked an unfished area and it was loaded. Soon, both boats were sitting side by side bailing double header jumbo porgies. High hook on the CQ IV had about 30 ROL with 40 people, many times 15-20 porgies were working at the same time. Some nice sea-bass were also caught on the earlier drops. We left them biting yesterday, come catch them today!

Today on the 9-1 was one drop scup shopping. The porgy bite was soft but steady with many double headers and fish being caught around the boat. High hook was 27 scup -rol. Bring the family and catch some fish!

July 11, 2012

Last night the porgy bite started off slow with but then as the chum began working its magic the fish began coming up the slick. By the end of the evening we had a nice catch and everyone went home with fish for dinner.

Wow….this was a first for us today. We had 20 keeper weakfish!!! Something we almost never catch. They poped up in smithtown bay and is the first time we have ever been able to jig weakfish in our area in a long time. We also had 50 blues, few porgies and fluke all on jigs.

We have seen some really great diamond jigging on several of our recent trips. Lots of blues mostly and they have been surfacing off Cranes Neck and in Smithtown Bay. Mostly surface fish but excellent action. The mixed bag bottom fishing has ranged from good to poor. Capt Jon put together a nice catch a 12 fares had 15 nice seabss and several dozen big porgies to go along with some blues.

Earlier in the week we also had some big fluke, 7 and 8 lbs!! But the fluke bite is now over for us for the season.

We started yesterday's charter with some scup fishing. It was pretty good, until on a move to another drop, Captain Mark spotted some fish on top. We switched over to jigs, and had a few hours of excellent fishing for mixed-sized blues! We're looking forward to seeing this action hold up for our bass and blue trips that are starting Monday morning at Seven, and add an option to our other trips, as well.
