Today was our final trip of the year. Picked away at the blackfish and ended the day with 57 keepers. Not a bail job by any means but some nice fish to 6 lbs in the mix. Due to the regulations, we are now tied up for two weeks because there is nothing to fish for.

We will begin again on May 15th when Fluke opens! Hope to see you then!

It was a cold, rainy, windy day out there for our Noreast.com Blackfish Seminar. Thankfully the great company and about 50 keeper blackfish made it a fun day again. Tough conditions but a lot of great information was shared among all aboard today.

Thanks again to our team of Captains : Chris, Mike, Steve, Jerry, Neil and Anthony from the Barbara Ann Charter boat. You all are a wealth of knowledge and and it has been a pleasure to do these trips with you. I look forward to next year!

After a slow start we finished up strong today. First few drops were picky but thankfully the last few had some decent life on them. We ended up with 70 keepers to 6.7 lbs. Sung Bum Kim won the pool for the first time in his life !Only a few days left. Hope to finish strong!

Not sailing tomorrow with the weather, but still some spots available for Tuesdays seminar and Wednesday.

Fishing was slower than yesterday as the conditions were much tougher. Nice easterly roll all day, but luckily the sun came out around mid day. Total for the day was 35 keepers. Few nice fish in the mix with Tony Alesi winning the pool.

Great day with the gang from Noreast today! The weather was perfect, the company was great and to to top it all off the Tog bite very well!!

80 keepers were landed as both clams and crabs caught well. Pablo won the pool with a 6.11lb tog.A lot of great information was shared between all the Captains and fisherman. Thank you to Noreast.com for putting this trip together, especially Togmaster for all your hard work.Look forward to the next seminar on Tuesday!

Blackfish were biting good again today!!!
We had a lot of families and kids out today to enjoy the great weather. Luckily the fishing was again quite good as nearly 80 keeper blackfish came over the rails. Mike Hayman was high hook with 8 keepers (orl) Pool fish was 7.5lbs. Nice to see all the kids having fun catching fish today! Plenty of room on all trips coming up.
Just give a call or book online.

Nice catch of Tog today!!!

Hit a few drops in 50-70 foot range and had good life on all of them! 14 anglers enjoyed a solid catch of blackfish as 37 keepers were landed. Some quality fish in the mix as the pool weighed in over 8 lbs today. Clams worked best and the bite was aggresive.
Plenty of room on most trips including our Noreast seminar on Friday.

Togs are starting to bite!

The water is 8 degrees warmer than when we started last year. With temps in the high 40's now, the blackfish bite has begun.
We had a decent pick of fish on the morning tide yesterday with 24 keepers coming over the rail with about that many shorts. Once the tide turned that was it though as the bite shut off the rest of the day.
High hook was 5 keepers. Not a bad start considering the full moon and tides. We hope to sail again after this east wind dies down, maybe by Tuesday. Lots of room on all trips including our Noreast Seminar trip on the 25th.

Friday, September

Here is a report from Captain Neil that he posted on Noreast.com:
If you thought about fishing on the Celtic Quest this morning but did some thing else instead, maybe you should pass by this report.

Fred, Bob, Tom and I chose to fish the CQ today. What a CATCHING trip we had! So did all the other anglers on board! Capt Chris stopped to mug some of the cocktail blues that were jumping all over the surface. You could see and hear the water gurgling, sounded like a rushing mountain stream. For every blue we boated we lost as many of the surface and we had all the blues we wanted within the limits. Then we went pork chop catching. We caught, caught and caught some more! It is wonderful when you can porgy fish using a 4 oz sinker in the middle of Long Island Sound. I loved the way Tommy cuts the clam bait, nice thin strips that fits on the hook and the porgys grab the hook as they suck in the clam bait. Way to go Tommy!

It was almost 1 stop catching porgys. When you can release keeper size porgys knowing that you will catch enough of the bigger and biggest size to take home, it does not get any better. Capt. Chris you had us on the fish.A hugh blue fish caught on a flounder spin pole took the pool. Our friend Tom did it to us again.

On top of all that the sun stayed in, no humidity, calm seas and just perfect fishing conditions for me. And, I also get to be the Go Home Capt!
What a day!So no rods were constructed today. Hey guys, I need a day off every now and then.
Folks this is the time of our fishing season when mayhem breaks loose almost every day.
Get a day off and get on a Port Jeff party boat.
