What type of fish are biting?
Great question. While we can tell you various fish are biting in different seasons, we mainly catch Porgies, Fluke, Seas Bass, Bluefish, Striped Bass, Weakfish and others. We cannot promise what any one fishing trip will yield in terms of catch but we always venture out to where we think the fish are biting on any given day. Hopefully, you’ll catch the big one (or have lots of fun trying!)
Do we need to know how to fish before we book a Celtic Quest Fishing adventure?
Absolutely no prior fishing experience is needed to book and step aboard a Celtic Quest outing. We provide the rod, reel and bait and all the instructions anyone would need to have a wonderful day out on the water. Of course, if you are an avid angler, you are certainly welcome to come show off your skills!

Are these trips good for all ages? Will children have fun?
We welcome all guests, age 5 and up. Children will have an amazing time learning how to bait a hook and cast a rod. Our friendly crew will also be happy to point out other sites along the way–animals and plants, etc.–to keep everyone busy as they wait for a tug on the line. (One note: no strollers are allowed on the boat!)
My family/friends want to fish but I don’t. Can I still come on the Celtic Quest trip?
Of course. And, if you don’t plan on fishing, give us a call at 631-928-3926 to see if we can help you out with a discount. We do limit the number of people on each trip and we will not be able to honor discounts if the boat trip is close to selling out.
Where is Port Jefferson, Long Island?
The Celtic Quest Fishing boats sail out of Port Jefferson, Long Island, which is about 60 miles East of NYC on the north shore of Long Island. Please allow plenty of travel time because depending on the time of day, 60 miles may take up to two hours.

We fish for all types of fish in season. Fluke, Porgies, Seas Bass, Striped Bass, Bluefish, Weakfish and more! Each trip is a little different in its focus, so please feel free to ask if you would like to know what your trip will be targeting exactly.
