Tog are starting to bite! Today ten fares had 34 keepers up to 7 lbs fishing a few of the shallow drops. High hook was 8 keepers. Just the beginning of good days to come!

Some stretch of weather! We didnt sail all week for the most part. We did get out on Wednesday evening and had a good chunking trip with big blues to 12 lbs. We also managed to sail yesterday. The water was very very dirty and the shallow drops were slow due to the extremely dirty water and run off from the storm. We did manage 1 keeper black, dropped a few keepers at the surface and had about 10 shorts but that was it. On a positive note we did put together 500-600 porgies up to 3lbs and some nice sea bass plus a bunch of blues so everyone went home with plenty of fish for dinner.

We didnt sail today and looks like we will be tied up for a few more days as well.

We were blown out today with the weather. Tomorrow doesnt look too nice either. The weekend saw mixed results. A few trips had some excellent porgie fishing and a few trips were slow. Some nice fish around but it was inconsistent on the moon and especially once that east wind picked up. We also had some good jigging on a few trips with lots of blues up to
10 lbs.

Blackfish starts friday!

Here is a recap for the past few days. Tuesday Capt Chris had some excellent fishing on the outgoing tide and everyone went home with a load of porgies, some sea bass and a few blues. Very good trip! We also had a great educational field trip working with Boces. The weather was amazing the fishing was red hot right and the kids had a great time!! The pm trip was drastically hampered by the winds and weather and only a few dozen porgies were landed.

Wednesday the wind was honking a forced us to stay inshore. It was a tough start but once the wind calmed down the bite was on! We finished up with an excellent catch on the outgoing tide of nice sized porgies and a few sea bass. The pm trip saw a one drop night as a nice pick of porgies and blues lasted the right into dark.

Thursday day trip saw a good pick in the morning on the incoming, though the size was a little smaller. We hit a few wrecks to end the day and had some bigger fish. All in all though a solid catch. The pm trip was again a nice pick of porgies all night.

The bottom fishing has really heated up!! The past two days have seen some great fishing on the wrecks for Jumbo and Super jumbo porgies, sea bass and tons of blues! The full day Super Jumbo Express yesterday and today saw really good results. Looks like the fall run is in full effect.

Yesterdays local mixed bag trip was very good in the morning. Plenty of nice porgies to go round. The mid trip the very slow as the bite shut off mid day. The pm trip bounced back nicely and we put together a nice catch of porgies.

Saturdays full day charter had a decent and steady pick of porgies all day and finished up with a good catch. Our second charter Bailed the blues on jigs to go along with some porgies. Another solid trip. Here are some pics from the great action!

Here is a nice report posted on Noreast.com by one of our customers:
Just got off the phone with a friend who asked me to post some info about his day. He caught snappers, porgies, searobins, blues and even a striped bass all in a few hrs of fishing(7am -11). It was his first time on the celtic quest he asked me if this was a typical day fishing on this boat. I said yep, capt. always puts you on the meat. I told him there are not many days you come home feeling disappointed when you fish the C.Q.

Great day today! Lots and lots of nice scup. Everyone went home with a ton of fish! Last night was very good as well. Very large scup were set up in the middle grounds and it was great action until sunset. There were also lots of big blues working in the rip and we ended the night with a few good drifts with the jigs. Fun trip.

The day trip on Wednesday saw a slow pick of scup where ever we went. Some nice fish off a few wrecks but the bite was way off. Luckily it bounced back that afternoon.

The diamond jigging has been great! Both tides have holding big schools of blues and a few striped bass as well. We had several very good sessions slaying the blues this week!

Diamond jigging was awesome the past few days!! Yesterdays full day charter was a bail job!! Our Mid trip on the open boat was good as well. Our pm charter was a slaughter. Left em biting in an all out bonanza!. This morning charter was also very very good once the tide set up.

The porgie fishing was decent at points the past two days, but slow on some trips when the very hard moon tides started running. The current should be easing off the next few days and hopefully the scup bite should be strong.

Some very big blues up to 13 lbs the past few days! We also had a handful of keeper and short striped bass in the mix as well.

A good day all around today! Capt Jared reported back with great action diamond jigging in the Middle Grounds. Lots of blues, with some big slammers up to 10lbs! They finished the trip off with a few dozen nice porgies and headed home.

Capt Chris reported back to say that porgie fishing was also very good today with plenty of nice scup coming over the rails. Several anglers had their limit and everyone caught well. Good days are ahead!

Wednesday Sept 8, 2010

We were blown out through Saturday with the near miss from Hurricane Earl. We had some decent fishing at the middle grounds once we got back out there. We didnt do much jigging since the storm but bottom fishing remains solid with plenty of good catches when the tide was right.

The 9am trip did much better with plenty of big scup at the middle grounds. We did not sail on any trips today.

Monday evening was fantastic on the porgies!!! Tons of big fish and a full boat limit. THe full day trip yesterday was very good once that incoming tide set up. Finished up with a full boat limit of scup. The 9am missed the tide a bit but everyone still went home with some dinner.

Here is a reprot from the pm trip yesterday posted by Bill P.:
Took a ride out to bend the rod on the 4:30-8:30 trip. Light tackle and jumbo oven stuffer pork chops. I had 17 keepers. The sound was glass. Perfect night, unreal sunset. The whole operation is top notch. Mates did a great job. Thanks Desi.

Todays 9am trip was very good again once the current set up. Lots of porgies came over the rails to end the trip!
