Bite was slower today for whatever reason. A few pieces had some life, but not like yesterday.

Finished up the day with 30 keepers, 70 total tog. Bob Mastrangelo took the lead for the largest tog of the season with 8 lb beauty! The largest tog of the season will win a beautiful custom rod generously donated by Ralph"Rodwinder" himself!

Chartered tomorrow and weather looks lousy for monday as of right now.

We will fish for tog all week and then FLuke will begin on Saturday May 1 !! (by special rsa permit)

Beautiful day out there today. Found good life on several different pieces and put together a nice catch of blackfish. Finished the day with 60 keepers and over 125 tog for the day. Johnny sinkers won the pool with a 7 lb beauty. Out of respect for their father, the Desena boys allowed their father to catch all the fish today, as he finished up high hook with 7 keepers, (orl) Nice job old timer! 🙂

Sailed with 7 fares today. Had good life in the deep water in the morning. Tried another drop 60 feet and not much going on. Headed back to the deep and had some more action to finish the trip. We ended up with 50 tog, 15 keepers for the morning before heading home early after the wind and current picked up. Big Glen lead the way with his limit of tog.

Tog are starting to bite! We didnt sail all week with weather and annual coast guard inspections etc. Happy to report that we got out today though and the tog are starting to turn on. Nothing super yet, but we did have 100 tog or so, keeping 25. Matteo won the pool with a 6 lb tog. Some good life in the afternoon once the water warmed up. all on clams. Trying to get back out there again tomorrow. Just a few signed up. Give a call if you can join us!

Opening day today. Beautiful day out there, lots of great customers, but slow fishing. The water temp was very high in the upper 40's, several degrees warmer than when they started biting last year. We ended up with 3 keepers and a dozen shorts. One of the keepers was over 7 lbs though. Nice fish caught by Winston!

Also, we are happy to announce that we have some great prizes this year that have been generously donated from one of the top custom rod builders in the country, Ralph Rodwinder himself. The largest blackfish of the season as well as the largest fluke will win a free custom rod built by Ralph. Good luck to everyone. So far Winstons 7.2 is in the lead!

They will start biting any day now. We are going to try again later in the week. Please give a call if you are interested in joining us!

Well, we are all done with our cod season and the Celtic Quest IV is now safely back in Port Jefferson! What an amazing cod season it was though. We saw some epic fishing for sure, certainly some of the finest local cod fishing our area has ever seen. It was great to work with some of the finest party and charter captains around and so encouraging to see so many boats working together out there. I know I speak for my crew when I say how grateful we feel to have been part of it all.

Not only did we have several huge runs of cod move through the areas south and southeast of block island, the bite lasted for nearly 3 months! Of course there were some very slow trips mixed in, just as fishing goes, but all in all the average trip saw very good to fantastic catches of cod. "Limiting out" was more the norm than the exception, and some of the trips saw some down right LUDICROUS fishing. It was a great shot in the arm for many boats who are trying their best to make it in a very difficult industry in hard times. Lets hope this fishery can continue for years to come!

We will resume sailing for Spring Blackfish on April 17. Our fluke season will begin on May 1 and our Porgie season around May 10.
Hope to see you then!

Very slow day out there today for some reason. We were reading fish all over but just couldnt get them to bite. Yesterday saw a good morning bite on anchor and a slow afternoon. finished up with about 150 keepers to 20 lbs. Ed Palmer and Jim Foley tied for high hook with 14 keepers a piece. looks like we will be blown out through the weekend.
Hope to get back out there again next week!
